Yes, Ken, I spent quite a while shifting back and forth between Aristotelia photos, and was still uncertain when I decided upon 1728. The reasons for my choice were its pinkish coloring (which doesn’t show up well in the photo), the pink/black banding on center leg and the lighter (yellowish) dot at the top of the rear diagonal black band. I have no idea where these characteristics are diagnostic for the species. BTW: I found this moth on our refrigeration, but I assume it came in from outdoors. I agree with Aristotelia but I can't commit to a species since there are several similar ones including 1761 Aristotelia roseosuffusella. Date doesn't help because I don't think any of them are supposed to be flying in January! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Marvin Smith <ms6wood@xxxxxxxxx> To: ncsc-moths <ncsc-moths@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 1, 2012 1:58 AM Subject: [ncsc-moths] Aristotelia amelanchierella? The last day of January was by far my most productive mothing evening of the month. This was one of them. My best shot: Aristotelia amelanchierella – 1728 -- or something thereabouts.
