To my fellow Tripoli East NC comrades,
First of all, I want to thank Alan Whitmore for his immeasurable dedication to
our club over the last 15 years. We all owe him a serious debt of gratitude for
the amount of work he’s done to ensure a seamless, safe and entertaining
launch, for all ages. For people like myself, he’s helped teach me the more
intricate aspects of rocketry(propellant chemistry/mixing in specific)and for
that I am eternally grateful. Thank you, Alan!!
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been flying with our club since day one
at Whitakers(~25 years). I’m sure some of you remember me running around as a
kid, bothering you with a million questions.
As prefect, I plan to follow in Alan’s footsteps to ensure we continue to have
fun, educational, and most importantly, safe launches.
I thoroughly enjoy sharing any information I have to help others, whether that
be a single flyer(no matter the age)or the rising amount of universities that
we have been hosting in recent years. On or off the field. I feel confident in
the knowledge I can offer as prefect in that I’ve certified Level 3 with
Tripoli, flown several complex projects that include high altitude, breaking
Mach, clusters, and multi stage flights, all recovered successfully. I would
love to share this wealth of experience with anyone who is interested.
One thing I’d like to do in my term as prefect is acquire a new set of pads.
Some of the current pads we use are 20+ years old, and I believe it’s time we
upgrade to newer, more modern pads.
I hope this gives you a brief summary of who I would be as prefect, and it’d be
an honor to serve you all.
Joe Hill
