Joe,
Alan sent an email that there were no Flight Cards.
Well, not exactly. There are oodles of flight cards in the trailer, which
currently resides near Aurora, NC. There are also at least 1000 flight cards
here in my house somewhere, I just can’t find them right now.
The issue under discussion is how may folks attending this weekend’s launch who
do not want to touch anything that anybody else has touched submit their flight
information. Making out a flight card in advance is a very sensible way to
approach this problem.
We fill out (and save for 3 years) flight information for all flights, to
satisfy the terms of the TRA insurance policy. A minimum amount of information
is essential for that purpose, and that’s what I outlined in one of my previous
posts. Our flight cards also ask for more information that helps the person
or persons who write up the launch report, to flesh out the information about
each flight. This is quite non-essential, but I found that a lot of people
really enjoy reading the launch reports. There are many reasons for this, but
people, in general, just like to see their names in print, especially if
associated with an accomplishment. Also, friends of the club who could not
attend a particular launch like to see what their friends have been up to. I
am extremely glad that Joe has continued to write the launch reports and that
they are lively, upbeat, and informative.
So, we got flight cards out the wazoo. You should have very little concern
about filling out the cards supplied in the brown box on the table next to the
trailer, because the best research on CoViD-19 suggests that the SARS
Coronavirus-2 is not transmitted efficiently by fomites, objects handled by
more than one person, and is mainly transmitted by aerosols (WEAR YOUR
MASKS!!!). However, it’s your life, and your lungs, and how your protect
yourself is your decision. Wearing masks in crowded public spaces is NOT a
decision affecting your own health, it affects other people, and expect to be
razzed, brow-beaten, and shamed if you approach the trailer/RSO/LCO area
without a mask.
We’re all in this together. Alan
