during a meeting at the Ohio Genealogical Society http://www.ogs.org/ on Main Street, i was able to demonstrate the Gramps genealogical software to a group of researchers. This was done using a Ubuntu version live-cd that includes Gramps. There was agreement among those attending that a free program for genealogy was a good thing.Gramps newest live-cd is based on Dapper Drake. http://gramps-project.org/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=19&MMN_position=33:9 The Gramps developement team decided to use Ubuntu because was available. A long time ago i had seen a comment on a Debian board that new users were requesting a Debian Official live-cd. At that time they were advised to use Knoppix. In my opinion, Debian should have maintained an official live-cd based on the network install cd 180 MB. http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
