That is true... The Flash Player is pre-compiled. However, it is at least up to date. The process is the same as it once was during Macromedia's reign. Basically, all the installer does is copy the flashplayer.so file into your personal Mozilla plugins directory (if run as a user) or the system-wide plugin directory (if run as root). I have no clue to the process now that Adobe has it. If it's along the lines of reader it's like above. Download it, read the README or INSTALL file and thats that.
