I’ll ask the vet next week about a decongestant. I hope the infection didn’t
get into his brain and that’s why he’s dizzy.
I just gave him a butt/side bath and we are both traumatized. Some of you say
your bunnies kiss you when they get the butt bath. I’m pretty sure Frodo just
put a hit out on me
I did it in the kitchen sink with the sprayer and he never sat in a puddle of
water so he wasn’t afraid of drowning. But he didn’t like it. And he didn’t
like being dried off or blown dry in low/cool-warm. And I don’t know what is
going on with the bare skin on the side he lays on, but it looked scabby. I
thought it was from the cornstarch clumping into his skin but then it didn’t
wash off. I used a little bunny shampoo and it wsd still there. I gently used
a warm wet washcloth and some of it came off but the skin was red underneath.
I hope that’s temporary and when I check again it’ll be just an angry pink and
not red. Oh boy I freaked out I don’t want to hurt him. What the heck is going
on? Maybe the cornstarch clumped and glued itself to the skin? The skin
couldn’t have got that scabby so quick, there were no sores. Vet gave me
silver sulfadiazine cream today. I put it where he and his brother can’t lick
off. But when I get the stuff Janet uses, I’ll switch to that. Hopefully there
won’t be any redness by then. The cornstarch works on keeping fur dry, but when
there are bare skin areas it seems to glue itself to the skin and dry it out
and irritate it. I’m hoping Janet’s cream works better. I got more bedding
layers to help keep him dry, it’s just the peeing on himself I have to worry
about.
I diapered him last night. Took about 7 tries but I finally got it. It stayed
on all night. I think it was on a bit sideways so I think there was some
dampness in the morning but he wasn’t wet. Lots of poops so I was so happy
because he hasn’t been eating much and last night he finally ate a good amount.
But not today. I’ll diaper again tonight because I’ll put more cream on to help
heal the redness and I want the bare skin covered up so he doesn’t rug burn
himself while it’s healing.
Wish us luck. I sent my husband to cheer Frodo up because I’m pretty sure I’m
on his bad side now. And I’m struggling on getting him to eat. I mixed some wet
pellets with a lot of banana last night and that’s the only way i could get him
to eat. He was fighting me on the critical care or spitting it out.

Brenda,
Thank you for the beautiful pics of Frodo and Balin. Frodo's fur is so lush,
both bunnies are so handsome. I pray that Frodo will begin to improve; it
must be a huge comfort to him to have Balin. They are devoted to one another.
Do you think a decongestant or other drug to dry the fluid in the middle ear
would help? Is there a safe decongestant for rabbits?
I will keep Frodo in my prayers; please keep us posted, Brenda.
Love,
Roberta

Pics of my Frodo so you can see the cuteness and put a furry face to his
name. Also his bonded mate Balin, who has been almost constantly at his
side comforting and socializing and grooming him Thank you for the
prayers.

Aww, Brenda, I am so sorry, I will keep Frodo in my nightly prayers. It’s
so hard. I know Robert pees on himself and must be spraying too. I have to
clean him daily.
I will know more after we see the vet tomorrow. I hope and pray she is
good.

Thank you for your prayers. Last Wednesday the vet was surprised at how
remarkably less pus there was in his ears. But he’s still laying on one
side all the time with dizziness and his appetite is off again. His fur is
gone on the side he lays on, I tbihfnt it was thin from brushing out the
messy poops but it seems to be urine burn. His skin isn’t red I use
cornstarch and lots of absorbent bedding. But he’s spraying himself
somehow when he pees because the area above the tail is getting wet. It’s
all very discouraging because the pus is less but the symptoms are still
the same.

and dill with carrot and Saryx with b vitamins and multi and probiotics.
He seems so strong,
Anyway, thanks, love to you and prayers for everyone.

Please join with me in prayer and meditation now as we show love and
support for all on this list and their beloveds as well as the unspoken
needs of others in this group......
And honor our Lord in the way He taught us to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name...
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil..
For Thine is the Kingdom,
The power, and the glory.
For ever and ever.
Amen.
