Well, I think that Wiki is wrong...aloe vera is marvelous for rabbits as is
the zinc.Thank you for sharing your experience too Janet....

Evonne, even Rabbit Wiki says it about A and D this is what they say, “Used to
topically treat minor sores and irritation. Try to use types of ointment with
no zinc, aloe, or other additions because they may cause harm to rabbits in
some cases.[2] And I am sure it’s rare, but bunnies aren’t humans,
Anyway. It’s ok that you believe like this, I am not wanting to argue with you
honestly. It’s ok. I don’t need to be right, If you need to be, you can be.
Many agree with you so that’s great, I was only sharing my experience. I don’t
want to put your experience down…antibiotic ointment first and then a and d,
zinc free, worked for me, They also use the plain a and d on babies, so it
must work for something, it’s been around for years,
Anyway, no hard feelings, thank you for sharing your experience,
Love to you Janet

haha! No, but it can be absorbed into the skin., they obviously feel it is safe
enough to use on babies.

Evonne,Janet’s friend said you have to wait until there is no broken skin to
use Butt Paste. Which is kinda like desitin I think. It has 12% or so zinc
oxide. I’ve been waiting to put it on until there are no more scabs or
cracking/broken/red skin. Did you put it on red skin? He’s getting lots better
but still some tiny scabs.

If you used zinc oxide that rabbit would be healed up in a few hours. As I
said to Janet if Zinc was so dangerous how come it is recommended for babies
bottoms!

So whatever you all decide to put on urine scald, and you all have your
preferences, does the skin have to be completely healed of any sores/broken
skin first ? Trying to decide what to put on Frodo tonight and tomorrow. Maybe
I’ll do SDD and a diaper tonight and try a&d tomorrow. Or Butt paste.
He’s gonna lay and rub whatever I put on him onto the blanket he’s on, so i
need something with staying power. I’ll have to show a whiff of the ointment
to Balin to make sure he doesn’t find it intriguing, in case it gets on the
blanket I don’t want him to lick it.
Oh and that super soft yard of faux sheepskin fabric I bought off Amazon, yeah
that doesn’t wick at all. Dammit I really liked that. Naturally Frodo was on
that part of the floor when he escaped his diaper. And he just sits in the
wet, why is that?? ?!#@ Well back to the fabric from Joanns.

,Hi Evonne, here is a list of some of the different ointments for diaper rash,
I’m sure a little zinc won’t hurt, but this is not what I would use for my
bunnies, we are all different and think it’s a good thing to learn from each
other. Blessings
