I have my vet call in the script to
https://www.vetrxdirect.com/product/view/azithromycin-for-dogs-and-cats-rx/variation-9391
The dosage for rabbits is 30-50mg/kg once a day so I use 40mg. My 14lb
flemmie which is 6.36kg got 1 250mg tab once a day. I used to get the
cherry suspension but it's so expensive.
I've never had a vet suggest tapering. Next time I talk to my vet I'm going
to ask about that.

Ohh wowww, Katherine! I was looking for this info earlier this year for
Moo before joining this group. I wish I'd thought to ask about it. And we
may try returning to Zithromax at some point for Moo, the cost was a major
factor though! Thank you so much for this idea 😍
I know how much Moo would have as the suspension liquid version, so is
there a way to translate this into the tablet form dosage?
Also many years ago my vet used to say to give a dose twice daily then
reduce down and taper off, giving every other day and then twice a week.
But in recent years he has said to maintain twice daily dosing constantly!
I assume this is about antibiotic resistance. Any ideas? How regularly do
you dose, and do you ever taper off or just stop fully in one go?
Azithromycin has been a life saver for our buns, severe headtilt and jaw
and tooth infections. And I've heard of other almost miraculous experiences.

Great idea Katy. Azithromycin is my go to antibiotic for tough infections
for my buns.
Much cheaper if you buy the tabs, dissolve it in a little water and add a
couple of drops of black strap molasses to make it palatable. Just need to
calculate correct dosage

What about other antibiotics if you can't get penicillin? E.g. oral
Zithromax is an awesome antibiotic that bunnies can have that's made for
humans xxx
