Hi Laura,
We too had a problem trying to get an appointment for the vaccine..normally I
wouldn't care-but wtih this pandemc being so horrible and becuase of my health
problems I felt it was important to get the vaccine. I think you and Bruce
would be wise to get it too with your health history....and your county should
have you both At the top of the list,I thnk that is a god idea for you and
Bruce to have the shots a week or so apart,,,actually I haven't heard of
anyone having a reaction to either shot....and I hope you wont - do you have an
epi pen?I go the epi pens and forgot to take them with me-LOL! But I'm sure
they have them there.I feel at ease now I;ve had the shot, and happy I had no
reaction- hope it will be the same for you two and that you can get the shots
soon..Love,Evonne x

Thanks Evonne,
I have all the site info, I am on Phasefinder and a couple others. In theory we
know more vaccine is going to be distributed (and has been distributed), but in
this area anyway, there just isn't any to be found. All the sites that have it
are literally booked solid long into the unforeseeable future. I was finding it
so stressful getting online several times a day to check and re-check to see if
somehow any appts opened up, but getting nowhere. I have just about resigned
myself to just stop dealing with it until the vaccines become much more
plentiful. There are a handful of places that you can go to and get in line,
but the distance is considerable, there are no guarantees of getting it and
neither of us want to spend hours standing or sitting in our car in a line, in
the hope of getting vaccinated, especially since there is no guarantee of a
booster being available in a timely manner.
The upside to this could only be that perhaps by the time we're able to get our
shots, there will be more information available as to the best option for us.
Johnson and Johnsons look promising in some aspects, Astra Zeneca is working on
one.....I like the idea of only needing one shot instead of 2, if only because
there is always the threat of a booster not being available in time. I am also
hearing from friends who did react negatively to the vaccine, that the side
effects from the booster made them far sicker than the initial shot did. I have
liver disease so I always feel sick after vaccines so that is a concern of
mine. Bruce and I decided that if it's possible, we'd space our vaccines a week
or so apart in case either of us gets hit hard with side effects. My poor
friend Mary was in bed for 5 days, it really laid her out. We have too many
animals needing our care to both be down at the same time. It may or may not
work out that way for us though.
Blessings,
