                  No Women's Race: Official

                  JEDDAH, 8 February 2006 - Local authorities have not 
sanctioned a women's race for charity at Durrat Al-Arous Resort as was reported 
by a local Arabic daily, a spokesman at the Makkah Governorate said yesterday.

                  "The Makkah governor has instructed the authorities to 
prevent such races and investigate the matter," the Saudi Press Agency quoted 
the spokesman as saying.

                  He said the government would not allow any activity that 
violates Islamic teachings and Saudi traditions.
