Hi Kirk,

Looks like you didn't break anything. When Nama first
starts, it runs commands to read the various effects plugins
available, and parses the text output. This process is
subject to uncertainties compared with a binary interface.

Startup on your machine is failing because Nama isn't able
to read the plugins.

Jeanette suggested the '-r' flag, but it doesn't help
because it is manually asking Nama to do what it was already
trying on its own.

Run 'ecasound -c' and try entering the commands 'cop-register'
'ladspa-register' and 'preset-register'.

Also try running Nama with the -L EffectsRegistry flag.
There will be a lot of output, and would be helpful if you
can capture it.

Regards,

Joel

what I find however I did try the -r flag at some point with no
different results.

Hi Joel and Jeanette: Those were excellent instructions from both of
you. Jeanette answered a subsequent question I had about mixing down
multiple tracks or portions at the same time.

Unfortunately I broke nama while trying to install the git repository
version. I had the debian version installed but it seems the build of
the repo installed the newer version in a different place. It is the
old /usr/bin... vs /usr/local/bin etc. Anyway, I can't get either
version to run now. My perl is not good enough, practically
nonexistant, to figure out exactly what I need to do to remove myself
from this bind. I am including the output from the repo version hoping
someone can tell me where I fucked up.

I apologize for breaking things before I even got to play with it! 'grin'
