Glad we tracked it down. Though as usual, taking more
trouble than seemed necessary...
Since Debian testing (squeeze) is already at 2.7.0, I wasn't expecting
Gentoo to be in the Dark Ages!
One workaround would be to specify in namarc:
volume_control_operator: ea
But then you would have to wait on fades, which
are (currently) based on eadb.
