Dear friends,
The National Disability Strategy 2010-2020 is a whole of government
strategy. It sets out the steps to be taken by all levels of government to
implement the rights set out under the United Nations Convention on the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which includes the right to personal
supports such as assistive technology, attendant care support, mobility
devices etc.
The current National Disability Strategy will expire next year, so the
government is currently consulting with people with disability around
Australia to inform the development of a new strategy. It is very important
that they hear about any existing issues that are experienced by older
people with disability in this process.
If you are an older person with disability who does not meet the age
eligibility requirements for the NDIS and you are not receiving adequate
support under other service systems, please consider completing this survey
to let the government know about the barriers you are facing. You will have
until 17 July to complete the survey.
