Would you like to be part of a delegation to
the United Nations to discuss human rights issues affecting people with
disability in Australia?
Hi Ros,
Every four years, Australia has to report to
the United Nations (UN) and be reviewed on what it has achieved. A committee
of independent experts, the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities (the Committee) does this review. People with disability, through
their representative organisations, can also report to the UN to help the
Committee review Australia. This report is known as a civil society Shadow
Report.
We are part of the Shadow Report Working Group
which is creating this year’s Shadow Report to the Committee, and in August, we
will travel to Geneva as part of the Australian Shadow Report Delegation to
speak to the UN Committee about the Shadow Report, and the important human
rights issues affecting people with disability in Australia.
We are now seeking Expressions of Interest
(EOI) from suitably qualified people with disability, to be included in the
delegation to represent the Shadow Report to the UN CRPD Committee. We are
accepting EOIs until midday on Tuesday 25th June 2019.

documents with others who might be interested.
To apply, ensure you review the documents on
the website and submit an expression of interest of no more than 2 pages by
midday Friday, June 25.
