Mail issues - ours and YOURS! Please take a moment as this could cause
serious problems without warning.
With the amount of spam and general mayhem on the email end of things I've
had the full database of Entourage disappear..all the mail gone! TWICE!! -
Fortunately a couple levels of backup left no permanent issues except a lot
of blue air around my own machine. I HAD understood there was a 4 gig limit
to Entourage but there still appears to be a problem as you approach 2 gigs
which was the previous limit. My database was just over 1.7 gigs.
There is a maintenance procedure available that it appears should be run
regularly. Open Entourage with the option key down to bring up a dialogue
to compact and repair.
After backing up the database I also stripped all the attachments from
anything a few months back.
These steps dropped the database size to 850 megs and it's been stable
since. The thing that was most critical here is without backup ALL of my
email would have been gone. Please please make sure you backup. An ounce of
prevention..........well you know.

We also advise you leave your mail on the server for 7 days just as an
additional security feature.

backup there is no reason not to have a decent safety net.
