[mso] Re: using an .ost file in Outlook

Well, wait, now I'm not so sure. I think the Outlook profile was
deleted off the PC, but I'm pretty sure the user profile on the server
was retained. The problem is that when the user logged onto Outlook
using her new profile, some of the task items that had been listed were
now missing. We wanted to try to restore the old mailbox from the OST
to see if we could get those missing items back. Does that sound
possible?

Unfortunately the mailbox was manually deleted. Ugh! Thanks anyway.

I'm an Exchange administrator, so maybe.
Was the mailbox deleted, is it viewable in the Exchange administrator
program? If it still exists, than yesy it can b brought back to life. If
on the other hane, when the user was deleted, the Exchange administrator
manually deleted the mailbox, its gone. By default, the mailbox is
retained for 30 days.=3D3D20

The mailbox was on the server but we couldn't create a PST. For some
reason it wouldn't let us create one. We did have an OST but not a PST.
I have read a couple Microsoft tech articles that lead me to believe
that an OST is not enough to restore from. I certainly hope not!! If
you know a magic fix that would be great!

Subject: [mso] using an .ost file in Outlook=3D3D3D3D20

Hi everyone,
This is an Outlook XP question as it relates to Exchange 2000. We are =
=3D
=3D3D
=3D3D3D
=3D3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D running SBS2000 at a client, and had a few =
problems =3D
with
exchange =3D3D3D3D3D lately. We had to delete one user without creating =
a
=3D
=3D3D
PST
file, because =3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D the profile wouldn't let me =
export
=3D
the =3D3D
file.
Now that we are up and =3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D running again, we recreated =
the =3D
user,
=3D3D
but
there is some information =3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D3D missing from the profile. =
We
=3D
did
create an OST file in the old profile =3D3D3D3D3D because we had set up =
=3D
the
profile with offline files. Does anyone know =3D3D3D3D3D if there is a =
=3D
way
=3D3D
to
use the OST file from the old profile to recover =3D3D3D3D3D the data in =
=3D
the
deleted account? I know the SID is =3D3D3D different and we =3D3D3D3D3D =
=3D
can't =3D3D
just
pull it over to the new one. But we are looking =3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D for =
=3D3D
a=3D3D3D3D3DA0way
=3D3D3D3D3D to open the OST, or import it into another account.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'd be glad to provide more =3D
=3D3D3D
=3D3D3D3D3D detail if necessary.

Thanks,
Elise
