email that...telling folks to unzip and play.=20

I have written an instruction sheet that I need to send to an e-mail
list of interested persons. These pages are written with many captured
diagrams pasted in. I have to make the document as universal as =
possible
because everybody has a different version of word. I wrote the =
document
  in word 2002.=20
When saved as *.doc in 2002 the size is 620K. If I transfer it to =
*.rtf
it becomes 14 mb (yes MB). Any ideas as to the reason for this huge =
jump
in size? Is there anything that can be done to enable me to send a
reasonably sized document that all can read?
