Mark- Instead of printing a document directly to a printer, you can print it to a printer file and then send that file to a printer. This can be useful if you are working on a computer that is not connected to a printer. When you print a document to a file it creates a document .prn extension. You can open it in WordPad, but the document will now have all sorts of printer codes added to it. The original document text can be hard to find. The printer codes are the codes for whichever printer was selected in the printer dialog box when the file was created. You can drag the *.prn to your printer icon, and the document will print. Otherwise, I would try posting this question to a Windows or DOS group Good luck Linda Publisher, ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers Linda's Computer Stop http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com Linda's MS Office Classes and EBooks http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/services.htm -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Msbalakier@xxxxxxx Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 2:59 PM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] open a .PRN file hi i created a PRN file using the hp printer option to SEND TO A FILE instead of just printind it out. my question: how can i read/open this file extension? thanks - mark ************************************************************* PLEASE READ!!!!
