Janie, The $ is an absolute reference. It means that if you copy the formula to another cell the $ part of the address you use will stay the same. This helps when using a fixed figure for multiple calculations. If you have =$A$1 * A2 in cell A3 and you copy it to cell B3, it will become: =$A$1 * B2 Hope this helps clarify it James -----Original Message----- From: Janie Evans [mailto:jsnevans@xxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, September 25, 2003 3:51 PM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] $ in formula :VSMail mx2 Would someone please tell me what the $ in a formula represents?
