I did that just last night to create a book cover. I made a table that had 3 rows and 3 columns. I put a jpg image in each of the 4 corner cells then merged the three cells in the center row. I then put a text box in each of the cells so that I could put in colored backgrounds. I have found that if you put a background into a word doc whether it be image or color word automatically switches to web page mode which is a HUGE annoyance to me. The workaround I came up with was using text boxes and putting backgrounds in them. If anyone knows how to put a background in a word document without it changing to a web page I would love to hear about it.
