[mso] Word XP - insert vs. typeover

A weird thing has happened to me a few times in Word XP - because of the
design of my keyboard (and most PC keyboards I've worked with), I often
end up accidentally hitting the "Insert" key when I'm trying to hit
"backspace." This is frustrating and scary because of course if you hit
Insert and change to typeover mode and don't realize it, you can end up
eating up your text (I just did it again - aaagh). But the weird thing
is that occasionally it gets stuck in typeover mode - even if I hit
Insert again, it doesn't go back to insert mode. I have to sort of
fiddle around with lots of keys and then it finally goes back to how it
was - but I'm never sure exactly what I've done to get it to behave.
This last time when it got stuck, I think I hit Alt-Insert and it
removed the last few edits I had made, but then when I hit Insert again,
it went back to Insert mode so I could work again. Good thing I save
every 2 and a half minutes if not more often!

Has anyone else seen this before? I should also note that it has
happened to me on several different computers so I don't think it's a
physical problem in my keyboard.

Thanks,
Elise
