Sawubona,
I have narrowed the problem down to the network connection...after
disconnecting network drives, the save as works fine...
How do I fix the network connections....

Sounds like you are either connected to network drives when you're not
on
the network, so there's a delay trying to figure out the proper
connection...or you have addins that are causing problems...or your
video
driver needs to be updated.
* check network connections and disable any that are not current
* start Word with the /a switch to stop addins and see if that helps
* tune down your hardware accelerator and see if that helps, if so,
update
your video driver

I am running MS Office XP...
When I select the 'Save As' option from both Word and Excell, they

hang, after bringing up the box for the directory structure...
What is causing Word and Excel not to respond after selecting the
'Save
As' option, this happens after the directory structure box has been
displayed on the screen...
