Do make a copy of the file in a separate directory before attempting any recovery, slice & dice or other operations. Only work with the copy until you get the results needed. -----Original Message----- From: mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mso-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Cathy.Evans@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2006 2:37 PM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Word 2000 Filesize limit? Sometimes it works to open Word, drill to file, hover on it, then select 'Open and Repair' on drop down arrow instead of open. Have been able to recover things that seemed lost with that method. No guarantees, but worth a try. Also sometimes luck out by opening a blank document and inserting the troublemaker. Pruscoe@xxxxxxx Sent by: mso-bounce@freelists. So all the suggestions on how to make it smaller by editing it, moving graphics outside etc, are great, but probably not much immediate help. My suggestion would be to reboot, and shut down every unneeded service. Then try opening the document. If that works, by all means try some of the suggestions regarding fixing it. But if it still doesn't open, I think you're in trouble. Maybe Star Office (free) can open it. How in the world did you manage to get an almost-1Gig Word document anyway? It sounds like Word is not the best tool for your purposes. ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, visit the group's homepage and use the dropdown menu at the top.
