======================
I think the most likely culprit is in differences between font styles among
the various PCs. I get documents from many different members of a club. Some
of the materials are intended for inclusion in a newsletter, and others are
meant as (usually) one-page flyers which go onto our website. Sometimes the
flyers also need to be printed in hard copy.
=======================

I no longer handle publication of a newsletter, but when I did, I allowed
people to submit in many formats but only used their plain text. That is,
how it would be from NOTEPAD. While the content was their responsibility,
the formatting was mine. The issues you experience are one of the reasons.
