Hi Ray

All section manager does is show you how many pages, sections - GO TO
Physical page number 1 2 3 or SECTION 1 2 3 etc. You have to press DONE
button to close Section Manager there is no other ESCcape key.

Technically you should be able to go to SECTION 2 and change the numbering
as per the bottom half of section manager.

What version of Word do you use? Dian Chapman or Dawn Crosier may jump in
here as both may know what the problem is.

It is just a quick way of manipulating the Section/Chapter numbering
sequence and gives you an overview of your document page layout sections at
a glance on left side of dialog box.

What Version of Word do you use?

You can assign a shortcut key sequence such as ALT S so you can invoke the
macro quickly instead of ALT F8 start typing name of macro... to bring it
up.

Right click on Menu (toolbar area)
Click on CUSTOMIZE (last option on menu)
Hit Keyboard (bottom of dialog box)
Cursor down left listbox to MACROS
Then mouse click in right box and start typing Secti
You are now on SectionManagerMAIN
Click in Add Shortcut keys and type your short keys, eg ALT S or as you
wish.
Click Assign
Assign changes in default is: Normal.dot
You can save it to your Normal.dot (which is default) setting and is on your
C: drive but if you are on a network you may lose this setting.
Press Close Close.

Hope this helps you find out more about Assigning Shortcut Keys to macros.

Janine.

Hi Janine,

I moved SectionManager.dot to C:\Documents and Settings\RAS\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP as you suggested, and I am able to launch it
with
Alt-F8, however, my Word document freezes when I click any field within
Section Manager. The only difference now is that I get an error message
saying
Windows couldn't exit the application because it is waiting for input from
me.
The only way I was able to regain control was to use Task Manager to exit
Word. This freezing behavior happened with three separate DOC files. Could
it
be that I'm not using Section Manager correctly?

<<With section breaks it is best to start at the end of your document and
work
backwards>>

Yes, I discovered that by trial and many errors.

Thanks again for all your help.
