You got thru just fine Linda. Your way works if I put the list in
Excel. I'm avoiding that step at this juncture because I have a way
that works in Access. I have a table with about 500 numbers I got from
Random.org. I just plug in whatever the next 50 are on the list and
when I run out, I'll generate 50 more. I'm just looking for a system
way to get the job done and something that takes advantage of the tools
I'm using. I emailed a response to Ray Blake earlier. Please read that
and maybe it'll help explain my objective. Thanks. /g

Not sure how to do it in Access, but in Excel, what I would do is add
another column and put =3D3Drand() in the top cell in the new column and =
=3D
drag it down to row 50 using the fill handle....this will put random
numbers in =3D that column....then I would sort on that row, then hide =
it.

I have no clue if this will even get thru to the list cuz a lot of my =
=3D
recent posts haven't...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Subject: [mso] Random in Access or Excel

Hi.
=3D20
I have a list of numbers, 1-50, in a table of two columns. The number is
=3D the unique value for text in a memo field. The memo field is in a
report =3D that's printed for distribution. I'd like to randomly sort =
the
numbers from =3D time to time so the text in a report changes from time =
to
time. The idea is to =3D have a random selection of text every time the
report is printed. Currently, =3D I regenerate my list of numbers using
random.org and re-do my table with =3D the new list which gets the job
done, but isn't very elegant and probably =3D not using Access properly.
Any advice appreciated. =3D20 Still looking for a clue in (waaaay tooo)
sunny Florida. /g
