I agree with the Step-by-step books by MS Press. I kinda forget about them
cos' I have them all and take them for granted. I admit that I don't use the
Word book much, cos' I know that program and it's not the best reference
book...the Bibles are better for getting quick answers to what you need to
know.

But as for learning...the Step-by-Step books are great. One of these days I
may even crack open that damn Excel one and give Linda a run for her
money!<lol> (Right!)

I have found the Microsoft Press books to be the best in teaching with a
plain english point of view. They are the books I highly recommend in all
my classes dealing with MS products.

The classic workbook takes you through the tools available in the software
module by module and then topic by topic and if they have sample files
included on disk the topics use one file to build on throughout each module.
Difficult to just jump to a topic and then learn only that which is
pertinent to the real world scenario you are dealing with.

The MS Press books I've used are the At-A-Glance series and show
step-by-step (which is another series I recommend) on one or two pages how
to perform a task.

Go to Borders, grab a latte, and take two of the MS Press At-A-Glance or
Step-by-Step series books and compare them to see what might suit your
reading and learning style.

Just my two cents......
