Hey Christine....what you discovered is an old helpdesk trick....Word
has a real problem with page numbering....when you try to use the 1 of
3, 2 of 3, etc., you OFTEN see 1 of 1 and 2 of 1 instead....and the
trick to "refresh" it is exactly what you came across...change your view
to anything else, then return to your current view.....actually,
switching to print preview and back works too.....sure is weird and I
don't know why it fixes it, but it sure does, as you can now attest to
Evidently, it was "supposed" to be fixed in Word 2000 with the latest
patches and it's not "supposed" to occur anymore in Word 2002
But, guess what....I got an email from someone the other day, using Word
2002, SP1 and it was happening to her....sigh
