I'm sure you will receive some valuable replies that will be more specific to the details, I am providing an overview of several options, as this is something we do on a weekly basis with remote locations. How will the file(s) be transferred between locations? Replication is probably the first thing to look at unless there are reasons another method of data exchange is preferred. For us, due to IT constraints, firewalls, server restrictions and other limitations on tools, I am not able to do any FTP file transfers or web enabling/upsizing of the database to put it onto a web server where everyone can input into the same database. Therefore I transfer the file back and forth via a web based document management system, and on my end built a series of queries to examine the data in each system and reconcile them via various delete, make table and append queries. Once they are reconciled, I upload the revised database back to the web document management system where the site picks it up. It is clumsy and takes the database out of commission for 1/2 hour while I download it, reconcile, then upload it. Clumsy yes, but gets the job done and don't have other options at the moment. However, if there are no IT/firewall/server restrictions involved, there are more options. They will want to split the database into front/back end so they are only transferring the data table file. My only knowledge of below options is based on research, not actual usage, since I'm unable to get to any web server to even test anything, so hopefully, someone with real 'how to' knowledge can set you on the right path here. FTP transfer can be set up to automatically transfer the file at specified schedule. You would transfer to a holding location so the records are not overwritten by the other site data before any reconciliation can transpire. I believe you can accomplish the data reconciliation via the replication feature, the main location having the original master database and the secondary location having the replica. Hopefully someone can provide further knowledge here, as I am unable to use the replication process due to the custom bits and pieces of information we are capturing/exchanging and know nothing on that end. Each has a copy of it on her local machine. At the end of the day, they want to be able to merge the two databases into one. Can this be done? The do not share a network drive, so there is no way for them to share the database. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Access is limited, so I don't know the answer. Any help would be appreciated.
