Diane,=20 You identified the problem!!! I watched Excel start up and sure enough, Book1 appeared and disappeared. I then went into the addins menu option under Tools and unchecked each add-in until I found the rogue program that was changing the book from 1 to 2. I have turned it off and now my Book1 appears again. THANKS!!!!! Excel will launch any file it finds in there. Also, if Book1 appears momentarily, then goes away and is replaced by Book2, there might be some issue with an add-in losing or opening the files. Finally, if the behaviour goes away with a reboot it would be because there was another instance of Excel already open (maybe not visible) which had used up Book1.=20 Dian D. I suspect I have saved a workbook as Book1 and now the program defaults to the next number. Is there anyway to get Book1 back? Where does the program look when it decides which book number to start with? =20 John Gamiles Finance & Planning Manager Hillsboro Print Center - Weyerhaeuser ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" (without the quotes) in the subject line.
