Hi Christine, There is another way hopefully shorter but it takes some set up. You would be adding an icon in the upper left-hand corner of the Excel screen near the Save and Undo icons etc.. Try this: Click on the Office Logo Click on Excel Options at the bottom of the menu Click on Customize in the left-hand column. Click no the drop down arrow next to the box that says Popular Commands. Select All Commands Scroll down the long list of commands ( it is alphabetical) and find the Number Format command. Click on that then click on the Add button in the middle of the window Click on OK at the bottom of the window Notice that an icon of a command â??Generalâ?? is added to the top of the screen. Now if you have a cell with numbers in it formatted as Currency for example, all you have to do is select that cell and click on the new icon and the number then click on Text from the drop down list. Hope this helps.  Best Regards, Abed --- On Sun, 4/24/11, Christine <blue3123@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Christine <blue3123@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [mso] Excel 2007 - Easily Format Cell as Text To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, April 24, 2011, 10:35 AM Greetings, I work a lot with data that is all numbers but has to be formatted as text due to the leading zeros. Is there an easy way to format the cells as text? Going to the Home tab (assuming I'm not there) and clicking on the drop down arrow then scrolling down to text takes more mouse clicks than I'd like. I know I can use the keyboard shortcuts but what I was hoping to be able to do is put button the Quick Launch Bar, but that doesn't seem to be an option. And another question - The comma format button defaults to 2 decimals. Anyway to change that to 0 decimals? I also work with a lot of data that needs to be formatted with a comma but without decimal points. Thanks, any suggestions would be appreciated.
