I use Word 2000.  The Grammar checker can be edited and customized.  The
easiest way to find it is to open Help in Word.  Select the Index tab.  Enter
"grammar" (without the quotes).   Click on Search to find something like
"grammar_checker" as a keyword.  Double click on the keyword to get a list of
topics.  In the results look for something like "Set rules for writing and
grammar style".  Then just follow the links.  That way you will find
information about how to establish grammar rules as well as being able to do so.

Hi all

Does anyone know how to edit the rules in the grammar checker in word?

Mine insists that

training organisation staff contact employers regularly

should be

training organisation staff contacts employers regularly

In Australian English the word staff means â??The people who work for an
organisation.â?? And it is quite acceptable â?? even normal â?? to treat it as a
plural, like the word people

Word has no problem with

training organisation people contact employers regularly

Is there any way I can change the definition of the word â??staffâ?? in the
grammar checker?  I do not want to scrap the number agreement rule
completely, just correct its error permanently.

Best Regards
