[mso] Conditional formatting

I have sort of answered my own question - but in a round about way.
I created a new cell where I conditionally formatted:

Formula is; and(cell<today()-275, cell>today()-335

and then another 2 formats for cell>today()-275 and cell<today()-335 - I
am not sure I have actually put the signs right but I now have a green
colour if a date is less than 9 months old, yellow if between 9 and 11
months and red if over 11 months.

This also works if I use the "owner" cell as the formula generator.

Is there not a more neater way of doing this??????
