Open Word to a blank document.  Click on File and select Page Setup.  Set the 
margins as you want them for all documents.  When done then click on "Default". 
 There will be a warning message that the changes you made will apply to all 
documents you create with the Normal template.  Answer Yes.
Another way is to actually open Normal.dot and edit it, but WIndows XP can make 
that very difficult to do.  You may have to search for Normal.dot which will 
probably be several folders deep with the last being "template".
