Well...this sounds like what I've been working on, continuously, since yesterday!<g> (Yup...pushing 20?-30? hrs???). You'll need to learn AutoForms, Word VBA and ADO. Write a routine that starts your autoform, which, yes, contains your boilerplate text. Then it connects to your DB and runs an SQL query to get your RecordSet (RS). Then you write a loop that goes through the RS, pulling out the parts you need, putting that data into the appropriate parts of the letter, into form fields and/or bookmarks and then either save/print the letter. Then run another query, if necessary and let 'er rip again! Hi All. I finally convinced the "Powers-That-Be" to allow me to fix the process for generating letters. AND, I've got 3 months to do it! ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. If they accept my plan, the problem with getting the list and values (1 to many) between Access and Word y'all have helped with will go away. Here's what I'm thinking and would like your advice on. We have 300 +/- letters most of which have common elements. I'd like to set up some kind of process by which the letters get created on the fly according to specific criteria. I remember reading something about this somewhere and the author called it "boilerplate" but I'm not sure. The data in question will be in Access. Graphics and formatting will be involved so I'm thinking Word will be the best tool for merging the records. waddaya think? how can it be done? where do I need to start reading on how to do this? Thanks in advance and much appreciation for getting me this far. It took a HUGE chunk of nerve to even propose this solution and I wouldn't have done it if y'all hadn't been so supportive. /g ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" (without the quotes) in the subject line.
