No, file is not corrupt. Have 3 files received in e-mail and same for all.
I can save to thumb drive and take to my sons laptop (running Vista and OP
2003) and they open.....is it Windows 2000??? Or registry error for Office
2003???

not positive.. but the error opening might mean the file is corrupt...  only
other thing i have experienced is an incorrect file association with docx.

I am having trouble opening docx files in Word 2003.  I have done EVERYTHING
the Microsoft web site said to do for the conversion bundle.

I am running Windows 2000 (SP4), 2.60GHz processor, 514, 769 KB Ram
                   Office 2003 Professional (SP3)

I updates ALL "High-Priority" updates (MS website said "none to install"), I
ensured Office 2003 had SP3 installed and I downloaded and installed
"FileFormatConverters.exe" for MS.

When I try to open a .docx file, I can select "Word 2007 document" from the
"File Convert" drop down menu, (or Word Macro-enabled 2007 document) and
click OK and I get the error "there was an error opening the file".

I also tried to save a Word and Excel file in 2007 format and it errors
saying it could not save the file.

I ALSO downloaded MS Office Word Viewer and it also errors  "there was an
error opening the file".

Other than changing operating system or upgrading to Word 2007, is there
anything else I can do?

Thanks,
Dan
