Thank you both for your replies. I've got about 15 different PST files so
it will be a major job each time! Oh groan!

The only Deleted Items that gets emptied on exit is the main PST deleted
items. Since the original poster uses rules to move emails to other PST's
those do not get deleted and need to be manually deleted by right clicking
on the deleted folder and selecting empty. When using multiple PST files,
each PST file has its own Deleted Items folder, but there is only one Inbox
or any other Special Folder (drafts, sent items) and those are stored in the
main PST file.

You probably already know that you can set deleted items to delete at exit.
Beyond that I was confused by your setup and description thereof.

I have the folder list view and can only see one deleted items folder and it
is not located within the inbox.

Hi guys

I have a number of rules set up in Outlook to move specific senders' mails
to certain PST folders. Some of these then get deleted but because they are
not deleted to the Inbox Deleted Items they can sit in the PST Deleted Items
folder forever if I don't remember to empty it manually. Is there any way
of configuring PST Deleted Items folders to empty on exiting Outlook?

Anne
