Ronald Clyde Wilcox
APRIL 12, 1941 - SEPTEMBER 28, 2018
Obituary of Ronald Clyde Wilcox
On Friday, September 28, 2018, Ronald C. Wilcox, loving husband and father
of four children, passed away at the age of 77.
Ron was born on April 12, 1941, in Hastings, MI, to Cranston and Dorothy
(Field) Wilcox. He was the second of three sons. Ron graduated from
Coldwater
High School in 1959. During his high school years, he was an accomplished
athlete, receiving numerous varsity letters in football, basketball and
baseball.
He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Michigan
University in elementary and special education. He also played on the men's
varsity
baseball team. Ron married Diane L. Cranmer (Kornstien) and had two
children, Douglas V. Wilcox and Ann L. Fila. He later married Patricia A.
Nowak. During
their 36-year marriage, they had two children, Thomas R. Wilcox and Paul C.
Wilcox. Ron spent his career teaching special education and was a mobility
instructor for the visually impaired. He worked for the Michigan School for
the Blind and the Ingham Intermediate School District for 34 years. Ron
loved
music, especially jazz, Tiger baseball and college sports. He especially
enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Pilgrim United
Methodist
Church. Ron will be remembered for his jovial nature and warm personality.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Cranston, and his mother, Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and children, Douglas, Ann (Craig),
Thomas
and Paul, grandchildren, Aislinn and Gavin, and brothers, Richard C. Wilcox
(Marcia) and Robert W. Wilcox (Jen).
Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, in DeWitt, MI, on
Tuesday, October 2, 2018, from 5:00-8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held
at Pilgrim United Methodist Church in St. Johns, MI, on Wednesday, October
3, 2018, at 2:00 pm. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Leader
Dogs
for the Blind or to the Pilgrim United Methodist Church.
