Wow! If we’re going to book a hotel for 2222, we’d better do it quick. I was
amazed at the prices of rooms. I wanted to stay at the Marriott in downtown
East Lansing, but rooms are $149-165. So no go there. The cheapest is the Red
roof Inn, of course, off Dunkle Road. But don’t know if buses go there and no
swimming pool. Rooms start at $65 though. Something else, most of them want
to charge for pets, especially over 80 pounds. Are guide dogs over 80 pounds?
Even the Red roof wanted to charge for dogs over 80 pounds. Then there’s the
old Holiday Inn South, now Causeway Bay Hotel. Rooms are $98. Of course,
there’s Motel 6, not on Washington Avenue though, 7326 W. Saginaw in the Delta
Center. So does the local bus go there? $53 per night for 2 person rooms,
though. Outdoor swimming pool too. Too many questions. Anyway, also don’t
know the best month to hold the reunion. If the Alumni Association isn’t
having them, we probably should have it in May, or September. We’ll definitely
have to decide and I’ll put out feelers on Facebook. May or September, kids
are still in school. But that may just be the cheapest time, because of that
reason.

Yes Marie and Charlie,
Thank you for all the planning and work you've done throughout the years.
Vickie, you did a great job also with the reunion in 2007.
I had a great time! It was great seeing people I thought I would never see
again.
There are those who have gone since, which is very sad.
Anyway, I'm up for 2022 at this point.

Sorry the Reunion wasn’t well attended. However, probably the money was an
issue. That’s why I wanted to start now to get a hotel lined up, so that
charges wouldn’t be perhaps, so mountainous, that no one could afford to come.
I think, personally, that people don’t want to pay money to the Alumni
Association, and that’s why they aren’t well attended. But it is nice that
someone, Marie, in particular, takes care of an updated list, with not much
help, if any. So, I could see paying her, but don’t know of any other reason
to be paid. I could be wrong, but if the Alumni Association paid for the
dinner or partially paid for the dinner, more people would feel like paying
dues. Again, that’s just my thought. When I planned ours, back in 2007, I
told everyone that a collection would be taken for the pizzas, and all were
glad to contribute. Anyway, thank you Marie for all you do. I know we all
appreciated the food and work you put into our reunion back in 2007. Charlie
too. You guys are the greatest, no question. So, if we plan one in 2222 for
our class, everyone will be invited. By that time, the apartments at MSB will
be open, and maybe we can view models, which will give us an opportunity to
tour our old campus again. I lost the phone number to the Visitors Bureau for
Lansing, so if someone wants to send me a message with their phone number, I’d
appreciate it. However, if there’s not interest, I won’t bother to try. I
figure we have almost 3 years to do some planning. We have Facebook now, so we
can get the word out so people can plan ahead. Let’s not get too depressed
yet.

The turnout was not great at all. If anybody is thinking of going next year you
might really want to think about it, because they are saying that this will
probably be our last one. Lack of money and interest. I forgot to mention,
Lucy, the operator for the switchboard was there. She is I think 90 years old,
and it was really cool to see her. I didn’t get a chance to talk to her, but
her daughter brought her.

I haven't had any dreams about MSB in a very long time.
Lucy, glad there were quite a few folks there from the 1974 class.
How was the turn out in general?
Marcia Class of 1971.

Amen Rich, I actually still have dreams about MSV. I love it! Yesterday’s
reunion was really fun. Saw lots of people from the class of 74. The ones
from class of 73 that were there were me, Dianne Devereaux, and Terri
Kositzke.

I don't remember George Zarka being principal at all. I just remember him
being dean. Of course, that was years and miles ago. There's a lot I don't
remember, but I'll always be able to walk that campus in my mind. I still
hear the sounds of the life we had there.
