You're so right, Big Fred. Ten years ago, I was crossing MLK at Mount Hope and
luckily I heard this dude making a left turn,. I jumped back; he just missed
me. I don't know if my reaction time would be quite as quick now, but these
black guys waiting at the bus stop told me he was talking on his cellphone and
just turned left automatically when the light changed. The new technology
certainly would have sensed a pedestrian in the cross-walk.

Hey Steve!
I am with you all the way. These automated cars, even with people still
driving
other cars on the road, will be much safer than those driven by people. People
text, drink, do their hair and nails, shave, watch movies and innumerable other
unsafe things. Stephen King was hit by a driver whose dogs were distracting
them from the road and rather than pull over and take care of the dogs, they
hit
King while he was jogging. I cannot wait until the majority of cars are
self-driving. We will all be much safer, especially us pedestrians who are
most
vulnerable to distracted drivers. I certainly know of a lot of pedestrians hit
by cars and the drivers are not held accountable even though the pedestrians
were in the right.
Warmest Regards,
Fred

You know, it is funny how people don't trust this technology. Even though 94
percent of accidents are caused by human error, people have an instinctual
almost primal fear of new technology.
You folks better not fly a commercial airliner; because well over 90 percent of
the flying is completely automated.

No, this isn't sour grapes.
There's enough crazy people on the roads now, I shudder to even consider
being
in the nut case throng out there.
Turning my life over to technology, no thank you!
