While running in the cool mist yesterday morning at Groom Creek, Dave Zelman
asked if l carried water on my run. My quick reply was that I don't run far
enough to need water (which is true). I used to be a slave to my Ironman Timex
watch, but since the watchband broke, I have run unfettered. Once was the time
when I quantified every interval and compared every mile. But as I have
graduated into the upper age groups and higher times, I have eschewed
technology and become a minimalist runner. No cell phone, no I pod, no watch,
no water, no GPS~ just me and my clothing. Sure, all of those gadgets have
their places, but I suggest you leave them behind now and then and experience
the music of your heartbeat. What could be better than running with your
friends in paradise on a Sunday morning?
