Subject: [mountainmilers] Quick note from Dan THE MAN Pemble a hill
running tip from me...

Dan owes Steve-O a beer for his accomplishment in Man vs. Horse and
haven't had a chance to do this yet. This is the plan...We will start
at 5:30 on Tuesday at PBC and go from there. Everyone is welcome so
please consider joining us! Dan

Note: Dan why would you congratulate Steve for doing something as
stupid as running 50 miles through some dumb mountain range??? If Steve
had been searching for gold or silver in the Mingus mountains THAT would
have made sense...

OK - here is a hill running tip from my Chi book (OK - so here is a 2nd
tip first: if your running shoes weigh more that 8 ounces - throw them
away...they are "running you" instead of the other way around...in other
words if the shoes are heavy and clunky you can't be in touch with the
ground as you glide over it...you are altering your stride because the
shoes are making you alter your stride...the minimalist shoe makes sense
and I can promise you one thing (ask Rob too) - you WILL go faster.

Back to the hill tip - I have shared this with Rob and Dave. I know
they are both skeptical. They should be. There are only 2 people that I
know that enjoy running hills: Kam Hott and myself. I only like them
since I was in the St. George marathon in 2006 and I vowed to NEVER let
anyone pass me on an uphill unless it was late in a marathon/ultra and I
was all out. So in effect I have "embraced" the hills and kept my
promise. As for Kam - he is one sick B-TARD. He does actually enjoy
it. Maybe brain damage from working in the computer field??? Brain
damage from working in the academic field? Maybe Karyn slipped him some
of that "Happy Water"??

Attached are 3 picture of page 177-179 from the Chi running book. I
haven't perfected this but I have tried it and if you hate hills - you
will love this...AND go faster too.

If I ever see any of you trying to pass me on a hill while using this
technique - it won't be pretty...Ken out.
