Below are the official results from Man (and Woman) vs. Horse Oct 1, 2011. My hat is off to all of the finishers - way to go! I highlighted our group runners and a few special friends... Working top to bottom -Jim Pullaro - 1:56/ Nice to see Jim back from injuries - he has been working with us at the track. -Stephen Muller - 2:13. Stephen had a little downtime too and is coming back. -Kari Mastracola - 3:33. Kari is a strong hiker - assume she walked but she did it. -Brigette Scheiss - 4:25 and first female in the 25. I think she said she had a recent leg problem but when she puts on the running gear - all bets are off she goes into rocket mode. Congrats Brigette. -Christina Robertson - 5:32. Concert pianist fresh off a smoking Imogene Pass race! -Dawn and Kathi - 6:00 Nice to see two more morning group runners that I caught just before the 16 mile aid station! -Patricia Wiercinsel - 7:07 - The better half to Wayne Coates, Patricia and Wayne recently moved here from Tucson and are no strangers to long distance running. Welcome to our group! -Matthew Brown 7:53 finished 2nd in the men's 50 mile with an awesome time. Doubt that anyone would remember he came out and ran with us a time or two...Keeps getting FASTER. -Noel Kingston 9:27 ran a super race...he passed me while I was getting lost and/or falling on the Grapevine somewhere between 10 and 12 into the race. Great run Noel!! -Mark Hellenthal 10:24 - the madman from PHX. The improvement in Mark's running since I first saw him more than a year ago has surpassed anything I could even believe. He is running so well. Super run Mark! -Shawna McKenna 11:08 - The highlight of my day was getting to run with Shawna from 20-22...she caught up to me at 20 (why I was ahead of her is a mystery). If there is a nicer person anywhere or anyone that smiles as much as Shawna - I want to meet her. If you need a pick-me-up - just talk to Shawna. She was also coming off something of a reduced training period but she ran super as always. I will always look up to Shawna for many reasons. Thanks for hanging with me. -Dan Kaspar - 11:31. Dan is a friend from the 24 hour FANS race in Minnesota. He almost always logs 100+ miles and finishes in the top 5. Dan, Mark and I pretty much ran together for the first 9 miles. Dan left me then got lost after 16. Caught me at 20, fell back and then popped up again at 32 as I was dropping out - the altitude and reduced training for Dan also slowed him but hey he logged another ultra finish! For the record - Dan lived in PHX for several years and I believe one year finished 4th in the 48 hour "Across the Years" race where he logged something like 248 miles...Dan is the energizer bunny and star runner. -Wayne Coates 11:55. (I am skipping Dana and Tandi for now). Also saw Wayne as I was leaving 32 and he looked fresh as a daisy. Just another day at the office as he keeps racking up ultra's - nice job Wayne! -Tandi Gaul and Dana Frank 11:53. I saved the very best for last. Without any hesitation, Dana is the star of the race. Her first ultra and she took on one of the toughest 50's on the planet. I caught up to Dana and Tandi at the mile 29 aid station and they gave me encouragement at a time when I needed it. Tandi has finished this race in 11 hours - she is a strong distance runner and yet she hung with Dana all day to help her. How cool is that? Tandi exemplifies why I like ultra races, your support includes all of the runners too. Tandi you are awesome - I still remember you giving me a hug at the finish 3 years ago. Dana - thank you for worrying about me. You are the star of this years race. I want your autograph! What an accomplishment...and also one of the nicest runners on the planet. Dana Frank ultra-marathon runner. 12 Mile Run Place Name Time Notes 1 Paul Kramer 1:21 1st Man 2 Kent Deardorff 1:30 3 JR Cook 1:39 4 Monique Coady 1:43 1st Woman 5 Barry Lane 1:45 6 Paula Kipp 1:46 2nd Woman 7 Erin Glenn 1:47 8 Richard McKnight 1:47 9 Scott Kipp 1:50 10 Sandi Scrimgeour 1:51 11 Jim Pullaro 1:56 12 Kevin Leteer 1:58 13 Janie Strasser 1:59 14 Michael Strasser 2:02 15 Leroy Sites 2:04 16 Liz Truitt 2:09 17 Joe Phillips 2:11 18 Ron Gibbons 2:12 19 Stephen Mueller 2:13 20 Marisa McHugh 2:21 21 Chas Roberts 3:10 22 John Ellis 3:20 23 Burke Painter 3:20 24 Chris O’Loughlin 3:20 25 Phil Davis 3:20 26 Kristen Best 3:33 27 Kari Mastracola 3:33 25 Mile Run Place Name Time Notes 1 Hall, Brian 3:11 1st Male 2 Hebine, Kerry 3:40 3 Corwin, Tobias 4:01 4 Enke, Freddie 4:10 5 Baracy, Derick 4:13 6 Schiess, Brigette 4:25 1st Female 7 Cagle, Dan 4:26 8 Blanchette, Donna 4:32 9 Ron, Harding 4:33 10 David Bremson 4:38 11 James Fowler 4:41 12 Ethan Garrett 5:03 13 Debbie Leftwich 5:08 14 Rebecca Franklin 5:17 15 Tyler Koerner 5:30 16 Steve Gaber 5:32 17 Christina Robertson 5:32 18 Dave Peterson 5:33 19 Carl Cohan 5:33 20 Gerry Smedinghoff 5:48 21 Dawn Wasowicz 6:00 22 Kathi Loesche 6:00 23 Dan Druser 6:02 24 Sue Molnik 6:23 25 Richard Vogt 7:22 26 Patricia Wiercinsel 7:07 27 Linda Brekken 7:45 28 Tiffany Zehring 7:48 29 Lauren Wilke 7:49 30 Tom Ford 7:50 50 Mile Run Place Name Time Notes 1 Michael Carson 7:33 1st Man 2 Matthew Brown 7:53 3 Jamil Coury 8:47 4 Magi Redlich 9:09 1st Woman 5 Geoffrey Foote 9:15 6 Scott Modzelewski 9:20 7 Evan Reimondo 9:23 8 Spencer Plumb 9:23 9 Todd Schultz 9:26 10 Marius Toma 9:27 11 Noel Kingston 9:27 12 Joe Galope 9:30 13 Dan Brenden 9:30 14 Mike Beerntzen 9:31 15 Jeremy Schmuki 9:40 16 John Roig 9:43 17 Michael Dahn 10:07 18 John Vaupel 10:09 19 Lars Brekken 10:10 20 Michael Skeer 10:11 21 Honey Albrecht 10:12 22 Mark Hellenthal 10:24 23 Lori Hickernell 10:33 24 Thos Hickernell 10:33 25 Juliet Morgan 10:43 26 Tom Oberheide 10:45 27 Lorraine Bastman 10:46 28 Ryan Bastman 10:46 29 Max Chafkin 10:48 30 Jonathan Brown 10:49 31 Gavin Hanover 10:50 32 Dean Hansen 10:54 33 Tosca Henry 10:55 34 Brian Wieneke 10:59 35 Shawna McKenna 11:08 36 Jeffrey Bryant 11:08 37 Amy Rasor 11:10 38 Allen Wrinkle 11:10 39 Doug Brown 11:14 40 Dan Kasper 11:31 41 Chris Sullivan 11:35 42 Tandi Gaul 11:53 43 Dana Frank 11:53 44 Wayne Coates 11:55 45 Andy Zalit 12:12
