Hi,
I have a bank account using my checking account and I deposit money in to that account.
I want to keep track of the money I will write in to the account using Money talks, so as not to get it mixed up with the other info.

All money will flow in to the bank account, I would just need to have two different money talks account branching off from my original checking account.
Can I do this using money Talks?
I would assume that I press CTRL+N for new account.
If true, then I configure it and save it. Would it save the info as the new account with a different name than the older account.

Two different accounts but the money for both of the accounts is going in to my older bank account.
Does this work?  Is there anything I need to be aware of when doing this?
Sorry, I haven't tried doing this before.
I could also write an Excel document to keep track of the money in this account but would rather use Money Talks if possible

Harvey,

I don't have an answer for accessing your backed up Money Talks files on two
different computers but I will say that regular Money Talks files are saved
with an mtf file extension. I suggest you search for these mtf files on your
computer and save them to a flash thumb drive for transport to another
computer.

I am trying to backup Money Talk files from my computer to restore onto
another computer that my wife previously used.

I used the backup and restore procedures that you stated below, but it has
not work.

Somehow when I originally installed Money Talks on my computer, the files
were placed into the User folder called "Harvey".
However, the user folder on my Wife's computer is called "Connie".

I am not sure if what I stated above is causing the problem, but if it is,
how can I transfer my existing Money Talks files into a folder that is
common to both the computers?

If the above is not the problem, then what else could be causing it?

Thanks for any help.

Larry:
We made it as simple as possible, so it's probably different than what
you've done in other programs.

Open Money Talks.
Go To File and select backup.
When it asks for the path, simply type the letter of the drive followed by
back slash (\) so if your thumb drive is e, you would simply type in e:\

Press enter.
You don't need to worry about folders, files, accounts. Money Talks will do
the rest.

When you restore, do the same steps, except you choose "restore"
instead of back up.

MT will know what folders and files to place where.

Okay,
A little clarification first though.
Typically, I just add the app data files and all of my settings are retained
in most aplications.
This is a bit different and so I don't want to accidentally delete 10 or so
years of transactions.

So I go to the drive that housed my earlier version of Money talks, and then
go in to either the menus or press the application key, go to restore
earlier versions and press enter?

Sorry I just want to be clear.

Try Rob's suggestion of backing up and then restoring. This will grab all of
the files and put them in the appropriate place.
Once restored, you can do control open, up and down through the account
files and open them.

The only file that opened in the new register with CONTROL+O was checking.
I Have more but they don't seem to have opened.

I have other accounts and when I click on them I hear:
How do you want to open this account?
Is an RTF file similoar to Microsoft word?
Choices include Notepad etc.
Thoughts?

Hi all,
I just bought a new Windows 10 computer.
I've been using Money talks for years on several computers.
I downloaded the newest version of Money Talks from APH.
  I ran the executable.
I put in my key, and then went to my back up for App Data and
grabbed
the APH folder wich contained Money talks.  I added it to my most
current App data.

I don't see any of my files or ealier transactions.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help you can give.
