It is also notable that the Money Talks manual is on your computer, and be
accessed in two ways, depending on your preference:

  1.  Press F1 from within Money Talks to open the manual in Book Wizard.
  2.  Open your Start Menu and type "Money Talks Documentation" This will open
the manual in your preferred browser.

Hi Harvey,

Money Talks is great in my opinion. I used Quicken for years but as I began
losing my vision, I needed something more accessible and Money Talks is it. I
especially like that it is very easy to navigate past transactions and it's
almost like navigating through a spreadsheet. I also like how easy it is to
transfer its data to Excel where additional analysis can occur.

Hello Alan,

Thanks, I am just trying to get started with the Money Talks program, trying to
figure out how it works.  I’m getting to the point that hand writing checks is
not working out very well any more.  This program looks like it will improve my
check writing.

Harvey,

I found the Money Talks online manual at https://tech.aph.org/mt_info.htm very ;
helpful. What are you looking for that it doesn't have?

Question: How do I get an instruction manule for Money Talks?  I called APH and
was told that it was on line.  I looked and it is not very helpful.

My best,

From the manual:

Delete Memorized Names: Ctrl+D

As you move through memorized names or categories in a list, you may delete
individual items from that list with Ctrl+D.

So, there is no menu item for this, just the ability to delete a category (or
other item such as a pay name) with Ctrl+D.

Rob,

I'm a bit confused about your reference to the official way to edit categories.
I went through every menu item in the Money Talks menus and found nothing to
provide a category list that could be edited. Could you please give the
specific details of how to edit categories using the official method?

Thanks.

Of course, its much easier, though perhaps a bit more tedious for power users,
to remove unwanted categories the official way. Simply use the arrow keys to
select the unwanted category, and press Ctrl+D.

Bob,

Thanks for your help, however I inserted my name in the below file path and
pasted it into the run dialog box and it didn’t work. I received an error

Thanks!

You need to go to

C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\aph\Money Talks\category.ini

Open the category ini file and edit it how you wish. make sure you note how the
file is formatted.

Hi,

I am fairly new to Money Talks and I was wondering if there is a way to edit
the list of categories. There are some categories that I will not be needing,
and if possible I was wanting to have the categories reflect more categories
that I would use. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Rebecca
