A slightly quicker way is to hit Alt+C for credit, and Alt+D for debit. You can then just hit Tab, and type the amount.

By default, when one executes CTRL T, the focus will be on the Payee
field. Shift Tab takes you up to the Transaction Type which by default is
on Debit. Because most transactions will be the debit kind, it makes sense
that the focus is on the Payee field. When Credit is selected, Payee
becomes Payer.

In the Transaction Type box, any one of the 4 arrow keys are available,
up down left and right.

Then tab down to the Payee/Payer field and add the new transaction.

Ambivalent? Well yes and no.
