Fellow Lions and Friends:
First, we have news concerning our golf tournament. Unfortunately, we were
unable to secure sufficient sponsorships and teams to hold the event on Friday,
June 3. However, we have received support from two sources as major sponsors
if we move the tournament to Friday, September 23. The Executive Committee has
approved this move and the updated tournament brochure is attached to this
email. Please help us make this the most successful tournament ever by
soliciting four-person teams and all levels of sponsors for the September date.
As most of you know, Mid-South finances are stressed during the summer, so we
need this event to really take off.
Second, along those same lines, we're asking every Lion and every Lions Club to
look at their finances and send budgeted funds, as well as any extra funds to
Mid-South. We know your finances are as "in demand" as ours, but hope that you
can help us provide service throughout the summer and fall rather than have an
extended waiting list. Every dollar you send will be put to work helping
someone in need. We've used FREEDOM FROM BLINDNESS as a tool during the summer
months for a few years and it has been successful to a point. Several Clubs
already are involved in this, but there's plenty of room for more clubs to
provide FREEDOM FROM BLINDNESS! There are club patches available for all those
who participate.
We need to continue emphasizing the need for funds during the summer and fall
so we don't have to tell patients they have to wait...many cases are adversely
affected by having to wait. Have a special fund raiser for Mid-South this
summer. If everyone will pitch in, we won't have to put these cases on hold.
Please help as much as you can.
This goes for individuals as well. Consider joining or renewing your Booster
Club membership ($25 per year minimum) or better yet, becoming a Champion donor
through a monthly bank draft or credit card charge (minimum $10 per month).
These funds come in every month and help us to keep up with the growing demand
for care.
Also attached in PDF format is the notification for our annual membership
meeting. This meeting will be on Saturday, June 4 at the Hamilton Eye Institute
in Memphis. Details of the meeting are included in the attached letter. Our
elections will be held at that time, and our list of nominees is also included
in the attachment. We need your input to make decisions for 2016-2017, the
beginning of our two-year celebration of 75 Years of Miracles!
To get an ad for your club, please see the final page of the attachment. A
full page ad for the annual meeting program is $100; one-half page $80 and
one-quarter page $50. We'll have another opportunity for ads for our auction
program later in the summer. We can do your ad for you, or you can send one.
Please make sure the ad is in Word or JPEG format (we can't use PDFs).
Thanks for your continued interest and support of Mid-South. To continue being
successful at providing miracles for those in need, we need your leadership,
your support, your contributions, your patient referrals and your prayers.
I look forward to seeing each of you on June 4 for the annual membership
meeting, and hope to see you at our auction on August 6 and our golf tournament
on September 23. I know we talk about finances a lot, but we have to have
money to keep making miracles, and that's what it's all about....RIGHT? RIGHT!!
We've done our best to update our website with new club contributions and
patient information by district. There are also other new items on the
website, so please take a look at www.midsouthlions.org
If you have any questions about these events, please contact our office at
888-546-6042.
TOgether in service,
Brad BakerCEOMid-South Lions
PS...PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO EVERY LION ON YOUR EMAIL LIST. WE WILL NOT BE
MAILING ANY NOTIFICATIONS FOR THIS MEETING, SO WE'RE DEPENDING ON YOU TO HELP
US SPREAD THE WORD TO EVERY CLUB.
Also, apologies if you receive this multiple times. BB
