Hi Dennis. 

I'm a bit out of my league here but here are a couple of thoughts.

Is it possible that the problem is with the register rather than the thread? If 
the thread goes right through the faceplate, you should be able to put that on 
the DW nose back to front, ie with the register outwards. If it goes on OK, 
then the thread is OK.
