Neville Shute Norway was also chief mathematician on the R100. He was
directly responsible to Barnes Wallis. He flew on the R100 on its maiden
crossing of the atlantic and gives a fascinating account of the flight in
his autobiography " Slide Rule". He also gives an insight into the contrast
between the privately funded R100 and the government sponsored R101. Anybody
who believes in socialism should be made to read it.
