I find interesting the rules now about alochol and public transport. Especially when one reads that in the days of double heading on the old Glasgow and South Western, it was not unknown for a the train engine driver to enter the pilot engine across the tender if 'he thought you had something good in a bottle', Mind you, until relatively recently, Air France pilots were served wine with their dinner..... But how many accidents have been avoided? How many railway accidents can you put down to drink? I can think of Eltham, 1973 and possibly (although it's open to argument) Eliott Junction in 1906. How much legislation is being introduced for the sake of it? Even worse, is the legislation introduced and then ignored, such as the current problems with PLT/BPL (Power Line Telecommunications/ Broadband on Power Line), where the Electro Magnetic Compatibility Regulations are being blatently ignored by the government....... then we have the situation with medical implants. A patient doesn't have a pacemaker so he dies. Alternatively, he does, but it fails after 5 years. The relatives sue because it failed.........so what happens if manufacturers just stop making them? Like Dave, I despair......
